In this first of many new interviews and extended content
here on CSM-Times, we sit down with the #1 player in the US right now
Pumaite. He represents the esteemed all US community called
67250. (recent
winners of US based community of the year) In this interview, he gives us an
insight on what it’s like to be apart of 67250, the pressure of being on top
and how awful it really is to play CS with Nokarot. I hope you enjoy the
interview as much as I did!
CSM-Times: Thanks Pumaite.. first off tell us your name and
where you live.. and a little about yourself.
Pumaite: Hey, My Name's Griffin
and I'm a 25-year-old from Cleveland,
Ohio.
CSM-Times: You are part of the all American based community
called 67250.. which started off as a CS clan. Don't you guys get sick of each
other?
Pumaite: The four founding members of 67250, Tris
(Jajajaja), Sandy (Urine Trouble), Drew (ta tudo dominado) and myself all went
to college together. Mike (MontellJordanPosse), and Kevin (Hotdog Attack)
joined us once we left school and decided to continue the clan. So our
"clan" is really nothing more than a group of friends that have known
each other for a while.
CSM-Times: I know that Nokarot got you guys started in
CSM... having had me bug the crap out of him to play it. when did you start
playing?
Pumaite: While I started playing many seasons ago, it wasn't
until when i was in 2.x that I began to play CSM in earnest. Before then I
didn't have vip and would only log in to maintain activity and occasionally
check match results. I was pretty active while working my way through 1337 but
once I won the gold trophy I became content to recycle strategies from previous
seasons. Hopefully I can motivate myself to change things up for season 23.
CSM-Times: Right now, you have taken t0lks place as the
manager to beat within the us. t0lk makes his return to 1337 next season. Do
you feel your reign is overwith or can you compete with t0lk?
Pumaite: I'd like to think I could compete with t0lk next
season, but he did start with a lot of money and buy some pretty phenomenal
players. Since t0lk's return I've only played him once, neither team having a
full roster and both teams having replaced multiple members. If nothing else,
season 23 will certainly be interesting.
CSM-Times: after 4 straight (looks to be 5) 1337 gold
trophies and t0lk winning 6.. the us has really only had two top teams to stand
out in 1337. Do you see this as a problem or something good?
Pumaite: I see it as a result of how CSM is currently
structured rather than as a good or bad thing for the US. The way
finances work in CSM right now is that once you're on top of 1337, particularly
in a relatively new nation, it is easy to stay there because you can simply out
buy everyone else. Weekend open tournaments for 2k csm per week, 15k prize at
the end of the season for finishing first, money from Champion's league and
higher sponsor money if you select a per win sponsor add up to significantly
greater buying power than even the second place team.
CSM-Times: what's the best thing about playing with nokarot
Pumaite: Best thing about playing with Nokarot (in cs 1.6)
is knowing that someone always has my back because he never goes first.
CSM-Times: what's the worst?
Pumaite: Worst thing about playing with Nokarot is his
denial of how much he baits.
CSM-Times: what type of things do you like to do outside of
CSM?
Pumaite: When I'm not playing CSM I enjoy taking chips from
other 67250 members in Texas Hold'em. Additionally I play a good bit of
Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword and Counter-Strike 1.6.
Pumaite is a force to be reckoned with.. not having lost a
game all season and taking home the last 4 1337 gold trophies. His community is
top notch and we look forward to seeing more from Pumaite and the 67250 crew in
the upcoming seasons!
Next up on CSM-Times, we will take a look into the mind
of
osi, leader of the exclusive community Second to None and recently elected
National Coach for Team UK!
No comments! Why not be the second?
lol good read, next season will definitely be interesting. But I think tolk will reign supreme once again :o
