Interview with Linde after NC 2007

Posted by UserTypiX at 08:02pm, Friday 29th June 2007

First off all i want to say congratulations for first place in Nation Cup 2007!

Can you tell us a bit about your self?

-Well, my name is Kasper, I’m 22 years old and I live in a city called Roskilde with my girlfriend and our two cats. At the moment I’m on my second year of studying export engineering and I expect to be graduated by the summer 2010.

From the beginning could you even imagine that you will win Nation Cup 2007?

-Of course not :)
-I have bootcamped with kirsch and team Germany since we got elected to be coach, and I’ve always felt like an underdog comparing to Germany, Spain, Sweden and even Portugal. I knew that Team Denmark had a great team, but at the same time I knew that our rivals for the title was just as good and maybe even better than the Danish team

Denmark were absolutely the favourite in Group A.You won all 5 games in the group as everyone expect. What do you think about your opponents in the group A? Did anyone impress you with tactics?

-Well, caused the bad timing of the cup (it was scheduled in the middle of my own and other NC’s finals (IRL)) I really didn't expect to make it all that far, ‘cause I wasn’t convinced that my tacs was good enough at that point, and I had poor time to do anything about it. So I was a nervous wreck when the first match against ‘Zuck’ and Team Netherlands were played. DK did okay, and this was a very important match for us to win.
The rest of the opponents played very well, though it was easy to see the difference in skills. The last match was against Team Norway and this match really confirmed that DK had to update quite a few of our tacs.

In Quarter-finals you meet Team Portugal on de_dust2.What do you think about that game? Did you had thought that you may lose this match or were you convince that you are going to win?

-I knew that we either were gonna fight Portugal or Germany in our Quarter-finals, depending if we won against team Norway. Although I was satisfied playing against Team Portugal, I also feared them caused my knowledge of the Portugeese players. And with beer_goggles as head coach I knew I had to play up to my best to beat him.

After the game against Portugal it was time to meet Team Spain who are just two places behind Denmark on rankings list. Unfortunately you lost against on overtime with 14-16.It's something that surprised many of us managers. What do you think what decided that game, player skills, tactics or something alls?

-Well Team Spain surprised us all making one close win after another, and Team Spain’s players are also very nice. So of course this match would make me bite my nails to the bone – although that’s not usually my thing. Surely this match was going into overtime and unfortunately DK lost.
-Maycry is a very skilled manager, and we all know of his numerous achievements. What decided the match? Well there were a lot of rounds that were 50/50, but Team Denmark had quite a big error in the ct pistol tacs, which resulted in bomb exploding in the remaining DK players’ faces - when they were too far away from the other bombsite. This happened twice and it was really sad witnessing this. But then again… maybe we were lucky in some other rounds, so this was the right result of this match.

After you lost game against Spain you had to play in LB (Looser Bracket).I don't think you were so happy about that, but you had one more chance to be a champion and that was good news=).Where you, should i say scary or nervous about playing in LB becous if you lose one game you will be out of competition?

-Of course I was happy. Now Team Denmark could play more games :D
Naah joke aside - of course this was a big defeat for us. I knew it was going to be a lot of close matches and if we blew it - we would be history.

Your first match in LB was against Team Portugal again! This time it wasn't so easy to beat them like last time in Quarter-finals. Denmark won hardly this time, final result was 11-13 for Denmark. Can you tell us what happen so it was so even match between these two teams?

-Well, both of our matches were on dust2 and this made the both of us (I can assume) change and update our tacs. So the second match was a completely different cocktail. Once again DK was lucky in some of the rounds and this could very well have been the goodbye of Team Denmark. GG beer_goggles

In LB Round 3 you meet Team Israel.Do you have something to say about this match apart from the final result, becaouse it was really easy game for Danmark or not?

-We all know how skilled yoske is, but making it this far with an underdog team like his nc team, that was really nice. So I knew again that we couldn't be sure to win the match, although our sp were a bit apart. We were lucky in our match, choosing some good tacs, which worked and made Team Israel having a hard time.

In the Final you meet Team Sweden.I think we could call it "el Classico" becaouse Sweden and Denmark had always been biggest rivals but. Sweden was only one step behind Denmark on the Rankings list.It was close from the beginning to the end.Final result was 10-14 for Denmark. How does it feel to beat Sweden? And what do you think about Team Sweden and theirs manager 1337?

-It's always nice to play against Sweden no matter if it’s Football or csm :D
Although the ranking of the countries got a very little effect how well the team were, I knew Sweden was the team to beat. 1337 is quite a manager getting 2 trophies home to Sweden, nicely done 1337. :D
I think that any Swede will agree with me saying that the teams were very even, and everything came down to tacs choosing and timing. But that’s the way it is, and Team Denmark was the lucky one this time.

Than it was time to meet Team Spain once again in the Championship Final. You had to win 2 maps to become a champion. What was going throw your mind when you heard that you have to win 2 maps against such a good team as Spain, who won over you in Semi-final and gave you a ticket to Looser Bracket?Tells us a bit about that.

-When a team "joins" the lower-bracket then you would of course settle with a top3 place. But when we won against Sweden then the boys could smell the gold, and we of course did everything in our power to revenge the first match. I think we did very well in changing and updating our tacs, and this resulted in another match. This was very comfortable for us seeing that Team Spain could be beaten, although we knew it would disappear easily if we lost the second match. Once again we updated a bit, but not that much from our Sweden match, because I had some trouble getting it all done, together with my own games in Champions league, playing almost at the same time.

I want to say thank you for your time! That was all i had to say.If you have something to say to the other managers, admins or me,now you got a chance to do that.

-Coaches: thank you for a very enjoyable cup, although a lot of teams could have won. :)
-Admins: You guys cheat and you know it :D
-Other managers: Well, a big thanks goes out to my NC-team.

Once aging Congratulations and good luck with your personal clan and we hope that you will be Denmarks National coach for a longer time in the future! You said that it's you birthday on Saturday so i will leave you alone now so that you can enjoy your birthday! Happy Brthday Linde!=)

-Thank you :D
